I was fortunate enough to play (trumpet) in Herb's Recording Band for a couple of years in the late 70's. Even luckier to do gigs around town with the Ted Herbert Orchestra, with Herb on one side of me, and Wes Hensel on the other. What an unbelievable education that was. Herb was always a wonderful gentleman. It goes without saying that he was a terrific trumpet player, a real genius with the plunger mute! I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. The music world has lost a legend.

I don't know if this got through the first time so here it is again.
I'm so glad I found this site! I just happened to get back in touch with Miss Caylor last year, right before the reunion so it was too late to attend. Will there be one in 2008? Please contact me for the next one. I laid my sticks down for about 20 years but I'm practicing again and hittin' some of the Dallas/Fort Worth area Blues jams. Below is my current contact info:

John & Karen Seydler

Suite 113 Box 176

Herietta and Floyd Allen were members of the Board of Directors for many years. Their son Jim Allen played trumpet with the bands in the late 60's early 70's.
